Support is vital to success throughout the journey of Surgical Weight Loss. Who we choose to be a part of our support group is very important as they will be the individuals to walk this journey with you. As you all know, we as a team here at St Francis are proud to be a part of your support group and assist you at each step along the way. You may choose anyone to be a part of your own support team, but it is important to choose wisely. Your support group has a very big impact on your feelings and emotions throughout this process. Choose people who will know what to say and do to support the potential drastic changes that this journey may contain.
It is also your responsibility to educate your family and friends about the surgery, and the changes you are going through (mentally and physically). Don’t expect them to read your mind. Have open communication to discuss what actions and words you need from these individuals and reassess often, as those needs will change throughout your journey.
Remember, YOU get to choose who will walk with you during this journey. Choose wisely and educate them to make you as successful as possible long-term!
