As a college-aged young man, Alan should have been having the time of his life. Due to his weight, he wasn't.

"I had little to no self confidence before my surgery," Alan says. "I've always loved being outdoors, but I was only able to do things that involved lounging outside, like fishing or camping."

Even at such a young age, his health was suffering, too. He already had hypertension, obesity-related asthma, and anxiety. After his gastric band surgery, Alan has lost 112 pounds and all his medical problems are gone. He truly has a new lease on life.

"Now, I'm able to do things that I have always wanted to try, like rock climbing, which is now my favorite activity," he says. His self confidence has also received a boost. "Before, asking someone on a date was not a possibility for me. Just thinking about it was horrifying. Now, I have more confidence and approaching women is far easier."
