David G. Anderson, MD | Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgeon
Dr. Anderson is a board certified surgeon who specializes in bariatric surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He has successfully completed hundreds of laparoscopic and open gastric bypass cases, revisions, gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy procedures.
Dr. Anderson is a graduate of New York Medical College and completed advanced training at both Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, and Baptist Hospital in Miami, Florida. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgery, a member of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.
Jeffrey A. Chaudhari, MD | Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgeon
Dr. Chaudhari is a board certified surgeon who specializes in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery. He is licensed to practice in New York and South Carolina, and has performed hundreds of laparoscopic Roux-en-y gastric bypasses, gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy procedures.
Dr. Chaudhari graduated summa cum laude from the University of Connecticut, with a B.S. degree in Biology. He remained in Connecticut and completed his doctor of medicine at the University of Connecticut. He then completed his surgical internship and residency at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center, followed by a Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at the same institution. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, NYSS, SSNYMC and SLS.
Kathy Koger, RN, BSN | Program Manager
Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Clemson University, and has more than 20 years of nursing experience with a focus on women’s health. Kathy has been with St. Francis since 2008 and was previously a Certified Breast Patient Navigator by the National Consortium of Breast Centers for both Imaging and Oncology.
She joined the Surgical Weight Loss team as Program Manager in March 2012. As someone who has lost approximately 100 pounds, she understands the struggles that come with obesity, and is excited about helping patients reach their health lifestyle goals. Her favorite part of this role is being able to come alongside patients and be a guide and encourager as they make a journey to healthy living.
Kathy enjoys an active lifestyle and runs 5-6 days a week along with strength training. One of her favorite accomplishments is the challenge of running with a trail running group at Paris Mountain. She has two daughters, Kayla, married to Matt, and Abby who is busy with soccer. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin, and loves shopping trips to Atlanta.
Katie Horner, RD, LD | Licensed Dietitian
Katie Horner is a registered dietitian, licensed in the state of South Carolina and originally from the Northern Virginia area. She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Food and Exercise from Virginia Tech University. She then completed her dietetic internship with the South Carolina Department of Health right here at St. Francis.
As the St. Francis Surgical Weight Loss dietitian, she constantly strives to provide individual service that focuses on each patient's unique needs. Together, Katie and her patients develop a lifestyle that addresses their goals and can be adapted as progress is made.
Katie enjoys many activities outside of work, including swimming, playing volleyball and hiking. She is a swim instructor at the YMCA during the week for both adults and children. Her hobbies include reading and watching movies. Katie can be reached at 864-675-4818.
Shannon Bates | Quality Coordinator/Surgery Scheduler
As the Quality Coordinator/Surgery Scheduler, Shannon is one of the most important members of St. Francis Surgical Weight Loss Team. She is the person our patients spend the most time with, as she not only schedules surgeries, but also verifies insurance and keeps the lines of communication open. Shannon makes sure our patients stay on track to reach their goals!
Shannon is a Greenville native who has worked in the medical field for more than 12 years. She has an associates degree from Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC. She joined the St. Francis Surgical Weight Loss team in April 2012. She previously worked with the team at Carolina Surgical Associates as a Surgery Scheduling Specialist. Shannon has received accreditation from the American College of Surgeons, Bariatric Center Network, to be the Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer for St. Francis.
Shannon enjoys spending time with her daughter Avery, husband Brian and extended family. Shannon, Brian and Avery and their two labrador retrievers spend most of their free time at their family home on Lake Hartwell.Ginny Gross, MA NCC | Certified Counselor
Ginny is a graduate Furman University and received her Masters in Community Counseling from Denver Seminary in Denver, Colorado. Ginny is a Nationally Certified Counselor working to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of South Carolina. Ginny is a member of the American Counseling Association.
Ginny specializes in working with people who are overweight, obese, and emotional overeaters. Working through some of the possible fallout issues such as negative body image and self-esteem, depression, healthy living, occupational problems, weightism, and family issues often helps people gain self-efficacy and long-term success. Ginny works with both children and adults.
Ginny is passionate about helping people live healthy lives to their fullest in all dimensions. She believes this involves a holistic approach to health including the cognitive, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of life. Ginny has experience working with adults and families, and her treatment plans include individual, group, and/or family counseling as vital parts of the healing process. Beth is a graduate of Phillips Andover Academy and an honors graduate of Stanford University. She earned a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina.
Beth Riley, MSW LISW-CP | Licensed Social Worker
Upon completing her graduate work, Beth established a private practice and has been helping Upstate residents with eating, body and weight issues for 13 years. Her practice uses a unique and personalized collaborative treatment model which includes incorporating loved ones when appropriate. She consults regularly with medical providers, dieticians, schools and coaches. She has done educational workshops for the South Carolina Clinical Society, The Greenville County School System, Anderson University, Furman University and Wofford College. She is a member of the St. Francis Bariatric Clinical Team, as well as, a Clinical Team Member of the innovative Michelin/St. Francis Diabetes IPU Program.
She is a member of the IAEDP (International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals), NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association), the Binge Eating Disorder Association, the Clinical Social Workers Association and the South Carolina Clinical Society of Social Workers.
